RentIt is strictly a technology platform and communication venue to connect users. RentIt does not own, operate, lease, inspect, or manage any vehicles or items. It is always and solely between peer and peer (host and renter) to agree upon terms and make a deal. RentIt is not responsible for any aspect of the peer-to-peer arrangement, including payments, deposits, item condition, mechanical safety, traffic fines, road accidents, delays, property damage, loss, or theft.
1. The RentIt Platform (Technology Venue Only)
RentIt is a community-driven technology platform that enables individual item owners ("Hosts") to discover and connect with verified community members ("Renters") seeking temporary access to vehicles, wearables, electronics, and other items. RentIt charges a 0% platform commission and is not a rental agency, transport provider, fleet operator, or middleman.
All rental terms, item condition assessments, fuel arrangements, prices, security deposits, and handover times are negotiated, determined, and finalized strictly and directly between peer and peer. RentIt provides only the digital discovery, direct peer messaging, and community connection venue.
2. User Eligibility & Verification
Community Verification: Access to community-restricted fleets requires verification via institutional email (e.g. @itbhu.ac.in) or Level 2 community-based proof approved by administrators.
Driving License: Renters must hold a valid, active driving license recognized under the Motor Vehicles Act to operate any motorized two-wheeler.
Contact & Verification: Hosts and renters may provide contact numbers and undergo identity verification for enhanced community trust.
Minimum Age: You must be at least 18 years of age to use RentIt. By creating an account, you confirm that you are 18 or older.
3. Host Responsibilities
Ensure the vehicle/item is in good condition, and for vehicles — roadworthy, mechanically sound, with valid registration, insurance, and pollution clearance.
Provide ISI-marked helmet(s) as indicated in the vehicle listing specifications (for two-wheelers).
Accurately declare refundable security deposits and inspect the item with the renter prior to confirming handover.
4. Renter Responsibilities
Wear an approved helmet at all times (for two-wheelers), adhere to campus and public traffic speed limits, and operate the vehicle soberly and legally.
Return the item at the agreed time, location, and condition without unauthorized third-party handoffs.
Immediately notify the host of any issues, damage, or delays.
5. Prohibited Platform Use
The following activities are strictly prohibited on RentIt:
Using rented vehicles for racing, stunting, or any illegal activities.
Subletting or re-renting items obtained through the platform to third parties without the host's explicit written consent.
Using the platform for scams, phishing, spam, or distributing malicious content.
Operating rented vehicles under the influence of alcohol, drugs, or any intoxicant.
Using the platform to facilitate or promote any activity that violates Indian law.
Engaging in price manipulation, shill bidding, or artificial inflation of rental demand.
6. False & Fraudulent Information
Users who provide false, misleading, or fraudulent information face the following consequences:
Fake profiles: Accounts created with false identity information will be permanently suspended without notice.
Fraudulent documents: Submitting forged, altered, or someone else's KYC documents (Aadhaar, Driving License, Student ID) will result in immediate account termination and may be reported to law enforcement.
Misleading listings: Listings with deliberately false descriptions, fake photos, or incorrect pricing will be removed, and the host's account may be suspended.
Impersonation: Pretending to be another user, administrator, or entity is grounds for permanent ban.
7. User Conduct
All users must maintain respectful and lawful behavior on the platform:
Harassment, abuse, threats, hate speech, or discriminatory behavior towards any user is strictly prohibited.
Misuse of the chat system for spam, unsolicited advertising, or offensive content is not allowed.
Users must not attempt to circumvent platform safety features or verification requirements.
Community chat rooms must be used respectfully. Inflammatory, political, or off-topic content may be moderated.
8. Account Suspension & Termination
RentIt reserves the right to suspend or permanently terminate a user account in the following circumstances:
Violation of these Terms & Conditions or the Privacy Policy.
Submission of fraudulent KYC documents or false identity information.
Repeated reports of misconduct, harassment, or abuse from other users.
Suspicious or malicious activity detected by platform security systems.
Failure to resolve disputes or cooperate with platform-mediated communication.
Extended inactivity (accounts inactive for over 12 months may be archived).
Suspended users will be notified via email with the reason for suspension. Users may appeal by contacting madhava2807@gmail.com.
9. Fake & Suspicious Listings
Users can report suspicious or fake listings using the in-app reporting mechanism or by contacting madhava2807@gmail.com.
Reported listings will be reviewed by administrators within 48 hours.
If a listing is confirmed as fake or misleading, it will be removed and the host may face account suspension.
Repeated violations will result in permanent account termination.
10. User Reporting Mechanism
RentIt provides multiple channels for users to report violations:
In-app reporting: Report users or listings directly from the platform interface.
Email: Send detailed reports to madhava2807@gmail.com with the subject "User Report — [Issue]".
All reports are treated confidentially. The reporter's identity is not disclosed to the reported party. Reports are reviewed within 48 hours.
11. Platform & Content Misuse
The following activities constitute platform misuse and are strictly prohibited:
Scraping: Automated extraction of platform data, listings, user profiles, or any content without explicit written permission.
Copying listings: Reproducing, duplicating, or republishing listings or content from RentIt on other platforms.
Impersonation: Creating accounts or communications that impersonate RentIt, its administrators, or other users.
Automated abuse: Using bots, scripts, or automated tools to interact with the platform, create accounts, send messages, or manipulate listings.
Reverse engineering: Attempting to decompile, reverse engineer, or extract source code from the platform.
12. Handover & Exchange Protocol
Item handovers, key transfers, physical condition inspections, and returns are coordinated directly between host and renter at mutually agreed campus or neighborhood meetup locations. RentIt does not track general user locations. Optional live GPS handover coordination is a restricted operational tool accessible solely to authorized personnel. Standard users coordinate their exchanges directly via in-app chat.
13. Dispute Resolution & Support Boundary
RentIt may facilitate communication between parties in a dispute by providing a platform for discussion and may share relevant transaction records or chat logs with both parties upon request. However:
RentIt is not a party to any dispute between hosts and renters.
RentIt does not act as an arbitrator, mediator, or adjudicator.
RentIt is not responsible for enforcing any agreement, refund, or compensation between users.
For unresolved disputes, users are encouraged to seek resolution through appropriate consumer forums or courts as per Indian law.
14. Complete Limitation of Liability & Disclaimers
RentIt is not responsible for any aspect of peer-to-peer deals or item usage. Because RentIt is solely a technology venue connecting community members:
RentIt does not inspect, test, certify, guarantee, service, or insure any items listed.
RentIt is not responsible for any financial exchanges, rental payments, deposit disputes, or refunds.
RentIt is not liable for traffic violations, challans, reckless driving, road accidents, bodily harm, property damage, mechanical breakdowns, flat tires, or fuel shortages.
RentIt is not responsible for late returns, item abandonment, loss, or theft.
Users interact, negotiate, and transact entirely at their own discretion, judgment, and sole risk, and agree to release, indemnify, and hold RentIt, its founders, and administrators harmless from any claims, disputes, or liabilities.
15. Intellectual Property
The RentIt name, logo, website design, source code, and all associated branding are the intellectual property of RentIt and its founders. Unauthorized use is prohibited.
User-uploaded content (photos, descriptions, listing details) remains the intellectual property of the uploading user. By uploading content, you grant RentIt a non-exclusive, royalty-free license to display, distribute, and promote the content on the platform.
This license is revoked upon account deletion or content removal by the user.
RentIt does not claim ownership of user-generated content.
16. Changes to Terms & Conditions
RentIt reserves the right to modify these Terms & Conditions at any time. When material changes are made:
Registered users will be notified via email at least 7 days before the changes take effect.
A summary of changes will be posted on the platform with the updated effective date.
Continued use of the platform after the effective date constitutes acceptance of the revised terms.
If you do not agree with the updated terms, you may discontinue use and request account deletion.
17. Governing Law & Jurisdiction
These Terms & Conditions are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the Republic of India. Any disputes arising out of or relating to these terms, or the use of RentIt, shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in Varanasi, Uttar Pradesh, India.
By using RentIt, you consent to the jurisdiction and venue of such courts and waive any objection to the inconvenience of the forum.
